Why The US Navy Is Paying Boeing $16.7 Million To Shut Down The Super Hornet Production Line

The delivery of the final batch of new Super Hornets is scheduled to begin in the winter of 2026, with final delivery no later than spring 2027. After that, production will shut down. Boeing previously warned that its F/A-18 Super Hornet line would shut down in 2025 if it didn't receive any new orders.
