Delta Air Lines entered 2026 with one of the strongest operational reputations in the industry, having been named North America’s most punctual airline by Cirium for a fifth consecutive year. Yet new US Department Of Transportation (DOT) data shows a striking reversal in one important measure: cancellations. Delta’s domestic network canceled 19,150 flights between January and June 2026, compared with just 9,696 during the same period last year — an increase of 98%.
