In 2026, many countries have adopted the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II and the Eurofighter Typhoon, but only two countries have so far operated both types side by side – the UK and Italy. The F-35 was built to survive and dominate in contested airspace through stealth, sensor fusion, and networked warfare.
