Left For First: Why Does The Boeing 757 Board From Mid-Cabin?

The Boeing 757 is the only narrowbody aircraft in regular commercial service that routinely boards from its second door rather than its first. On routes where gate infrastructure allows it, all passengers board through door 2L at the midpoint of the cabin, with first class passengers turning left toward the nose and economy passengers turning right toward the rear. The two groups split from a single entry point and never occupy the same section of the cabin during boarding.
