A Qantas Airways flight traveling from Melbourne Airport (MEL) to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) was forced to divert to Tahiti after a passenger allegedly became violent midair, creating a tense situation for crew members and travelers onboard. One Mile at a Time reported that the incident unfolded aboard QF21, aircraft registration VH-ZNB, one of the airline’s flagship ultra-long-haul services connecting Australia and the United States. According to reports, the disruption escalated after the passenger allegedly ignored repeated crew instructions and behaved aggressively during the nearly 8,992 miles (14,472 km) journey, covering approximately 15–17 hours.
