Having debuted in 1989, the Boeing 747-400 could be mistaken for a relic rather than a workhorse still being used to circumnavigate the globe. After all, four engines are increasingly being left in the past as the model is trumped in efficiency by twin-engine rivals all around. That said, Boeing’s penultimate jumbo jet variant should not be written off just yet, with a packed schedule awaiting in 2026 as just a handful of carriers hold off following peers who have retired the classic from passenger fleets in recent years.
