This Was The World's Most Disrupted Airport Over The Weekend

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) became the world’s most disrupted airport over the weekend of January 2–4, 2026, after prolonged snow and icy conditions forced widespread flight cancellations and delays. A code yellow weather warning remained in effect across the Netherlands, significantly reducing runway capacity and slowing ground operations. The disruption began on Friday and continued through Sunday, with airlines warning that the impacts would persist into Monday; KLM has already announced the cancellation of 124 flights for Monday. Persistent winter weather and de-icing limitations were the primary causes of the operational breakdown.
