If you are an aviation enthusiast, you may already be familiar with Air Algerie, the flag carrier of Algeria. The airline’s roots trace back to Compagnie Generale de Transports Aériens (CGTA), which was established in 1947 by the French colonial government to provide air transport between Algeria and France. Later, in 1953, CGTA merged with Compagnie Air Transport, a subsidiary of Air France, creating what is now Air Algerie.
