Just two US-based carriers are flying Airbus’ long-haul widebody, the A330, today. The answer is more complex than a simple purchase off the lot, so to speak. Delta Air Lines first gained the long-range model after its merger with Northwest Airlines in 2008. Hawaiian Airlines, on the other hand, saw the fuel-efficient jet as the most cost-effective option to keep widebody service going until it received the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
