On June 12, Air India Flight 171, a London-bound service operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, crashed minutes after takeoff from Ahmedabad International Airport. Of all those 242 people on board, only one person survived. The crash was probably one of the worst aviation disasters in Indian aviation history and the first hull loss for the Dreamliner family. Such plane crashes remain rare in modern commercial aviation, but when they do occur, the consequences are devastating.
