Newark Liberty International Airport is going through some things. As one of the major airports serving the New York area and the primary transatlantic hub for United Airlines, it has been experiencing heavy delays and flight cancellations for weeks due to staff shortages in air traffic control (ATC) and repeated technology and communications outages. An air traffic controller even declared the airport to be unsafe, and that the flying public should "avoid Newark at all costs."
