Iran has filed a lawsuit at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) seeking to overturn a decision by the International Civil Aviation Organization ( ICAO) to examine a case brought against Tehran over the 2020 downing of a Ukrainian passenger jet. The case was filed on April 17, 2025, after the ICAO Council ruled in March that it had the jurisdiction to hear a complaint submitted by Ukraine, Canada, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
