Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), situated approximately 26 miles west of Washington D.C., is a key airport in the capital's metropolitan area, along with Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). Opened in 1962 and named after former US Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, IAD is easily recognizable for its distinctive terminal architecture.
