William Penn Adair Rogers was an actor, performer, and social commentator. He was born on November 4, 1879, in a small town near Rogers County (the Indian Territory) in Oklahoma. Well-known as ”Oklahoma’s Favorite Son.” Rogers began his career in arts and theater as a performer in vaudeville. Creating comical situations inspired by dramatic compositions and songs gave Rogers an edge over others in the genre that had started in France in the 1900s.
