Multiple agencies have been tapped to help with the Palisades and Eaton wildfires in California. They have brought diverse fleets of fire tanker aircraft to the fight for Los Angeles, where steep terrain and dry brush makes fires move quickly. The resulting devastation has already been staggering with a human impact that is rippling through the community, yet the fires have not reach the most densely populated areas yet. Agencies that have joined teh fight against the raging inferno include the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), California National Guard (CAL GUARD), Wildland Fire Crews, Texas Firefighters, the Air National Guard (ANG), the US Navy, US Forest Service (USFS), Wyoming and Nevada National Guard as well as fire air tankers from Australia and Canada. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) are two of the key federal agencies that coordinate fire fighting at a national level and work to bring all of these teams together into one cohesive force.
