Over its career, the giant airship flew over a million miles on 590 flights and carried over 34,000 passengers without a single injury. Before aircraft, it was Zeppelins flying passengers across the Atlantic Ocean to the United States. The Graf Zeppelin was withdrawn from service after the disaster of the Hindenburg airship that catastrophically burst into flames in Lakehurst, New Jersey on its maiden flight.
