The Brazilian carrier Azul Linhas Aéreas will expand by 18% its commercial scheduled operations in Rio de Janeiro’s two main airports, Santos Dumont (SDU) and Galeão International (GIG). This announcement was made after the Brazilian authorities dropped the proposed measure that would have limited the available routes from SDU to a maximum distance of 400 kilometers (248.5 miles) from the airport.
