The regulatory authorities of the country in which a particular aircraft is certified also certify the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) and various procedures and tools to carry out maintenance. An aircraft must be routinely inspected and maintained to keep the airworthiness certification for the type valid. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the United States and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) of Europe mandate aircraft operators to perform approved maintenance on aircraft.
