On March 12, 1950, a charter flight operated by Fairflight crashed near Llandlow Royal Air Force Station, the deadliest disaster in civil aviation at the time. The Avro Tudor V, named Star Girl, departed from Dublin, destined for Llandlow. Onboard were five flight crew members and 78 passengers. A total of 80 people lost their lives in the crash. Miraculously, three passengers survived.
