The 20th century was a breathless 100-year period for the world of aviation, as the industry went from its first experimental flights to the commercial boom of the jet age in just a handful of decades. Aviation's path to mainstream normality was forged by many pioneers, with one of the key players being Juan Trippe. As well as founding Pan Am, Trippe also helped bring the iconic double-decker Boeing 747 to life.
