NATO Summit Will Result In Temporary Flight Ban For Vilnius Airport

Lithuania's largest airport will see a 26-hour ban on commercial flights this summer as heads of state from around the world descend upon Vilnius for the 2023 NATO Summit. While the leaders of member nations meet regularly, the geopolitical situation has become more tense since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Lithuania is on NATO's eastern flank, situated between the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad, and Russian ally Belarus. Notably, Vilnius is a mere 30 kilometers away from the Lithuania-Belarus border.
