The Mexican government has removed the authorization of cabotage from a recent law reform, which has given the domestic airline industry much relief. Had it gotten through, the cabotage would have allowed international carriers to operate domestic flights in Mexico. This practice was widely condemned but was favored by the country’s president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in an attempt to improve the connectivity at its flagship infrastructure project, the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU).
