Helios Airways flight 522 was planned to depart from Larnaca in Cyprus on 14th August 2005. The Boeing 737 had returned the previous evening from London Heathrow. The cabin crew had reported in the cabin defect log that the right rear service door seal was frozen, and loud bangs were heard during the flight. The engineer carried out an inspection and performed a pressurization system check and was satisfied the aircraft was ready to fly.
