The Life & Times Of British Aviation Pioneer Alan Cobham

Born on May 6, 1894, in Camberwell South London in the Borough of Southwark, Alan John Cobham went on to Wilson's Grammar School. After underachieving at school, he volunteered to join the army in 1914 and was assigned to the Veterinary Corps, where he helped look after the horses, due to his background in farming earned through summer jobs with his uncle in the countryside.
