While the aviation emissions that need combating are, first and foremost, the greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants from aircraft burning fossil fuel traversing the sky, airports have a major role to play when it comes to advancing sustainability in the industry. In 2016, Dallas-Fort Worth International was named the first North American carbon-neutral airport. And it has had no intention of resting on its laurels, being recognized for its renewable gas initiative at COP26 last year in Glasgow.
