Born on March 31, 1913, to a wealthy Barcelona family, Maria Josep Colomer i Luque, better known as Mari Pepa Colomer, was a pioneer of Spanish aviation. While growing up, Mari Pepa's father was friends with Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí and often took her to bars to meet them. On the other hand, her mother was very strict, so her father had to tell her they were going for a walk and not meeting up with his artist friends in a bar.
