Serving the Northwest England city of Liverpool, Merseyside's Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) is located on the banks of the River Mersey, 6.5 miles from the city center. Built on the grounds of Speke Hall, a wood-framed Tudor manor house built in the 1500s, the airport was originally called Liverpool Speke Airport.
