Virgin Australia will begin flying from the Gold Coast to Denpasar (Bali) next year, becoming the first airline to fly the city pair. It is a novel piece of adventurism from the Brisbane-based airline, which until recently, has steered clear of international flying and when it has dipped its toes into the market, has tended to follow other carriers on already well-traversed routes.
