Before Aeropostal Alas de Venezuela took to the skies, the first flight in Venezuela occurred in 1912 when US pilot Frank E. Boland flew a self-built plane in Caracas. Initially, Venezuelan aviation was primarily associated with the military, and in 1920, the government inaugurated the first pilot school, which was run by the army.
