Gallunggung Glider: The Story Of British Airways Flight 9

On June 24th, 1982, a British Airways Boeing 747-200 registered as G-BDXH took off from London bound for Auckland, New Zealand. Named City of Edinburgh, the three-year-old aircraft was scheduled to make four stops in Bombay, Kuala Lumpur, Perth, and Melbourne before flying on to Auckland. However, an alarming encounter with a volcanic ash cloud forced the flight to divert.
