Throwback: The BOAC Plane That Landed On The River Thames

In the early decades of commercial aviation, aircraft known as 'flying boats' were a comparatively common sight. These planes had the ability to land on and take off from water, but slowly fell out of fashion during the Cold War era. In 1949, BOAC celebrated a special anniversary by landing one of its flying boats on the Thames.
