Sir Freddie Laker was a British entrepreneur who lived from 1922 until 2006. Had he been alive today, he would have undoubtedly been described as a 'disruptor' of the airline industry in common parlance. With his maverick approach to business, along with a keen eye for a money-making opportunity, Laker assumed legendary status when he started Laker Airways, still regarded by many to be the world's first low-cost carrier.
