How Do Contra-Rotating Propellers Work?

Contra-rotating propellers are often called CRP coaxial contra-rotating or high-speed propellers, usually found on single piston or turboprop engines. Contra-rotation is a technique whereby parts of a mechanism rotate in opposite directions. Arranged one behind the other, the power from the motor is transferred to the propellers using a planetary gear or spur gear transmission.
