Croatia Airlines is feeling the presence of Europe’s largest airline, Ryanair, in its home base. Ryanair opened a Lauda Europe base in Zagreb Airport in June 2021 and then launched a staggering 24 brand new routes within just seven months. As a result, Croatia Airlines is shifting its focus away from Zagreb as it looks for ways in which it can profitably deploy its aircraft capacity. One Airbus A320, the largest in its fleet, has already been retired.
