A Look At The Battery Issues That Grounded The Boeing 787 In 2013

In 2013, just two years after it entered service, the Boeing 787 was grounded. This is an unusual move (although we have seen it also with the Boeing 737 MAX) and followed electrical issues with the lithium ions battery in the aircraft APU. After around three months, the aircraft returned to service, with safety modifications made to the batteries and housing.
