The Giant With Premium Economy: Inside Emirates’ Airbus A380

UAE flag carrier Emirates is gearing up to put seats in its premium economy cabin on sale for select Airbus A380 flights next year. At the recent Dubai Airshow, it took the opportunity to showcase the new product, and Simple Flying had the chance to take a look.

Breeze’s A220s Could Fly Longer With An Aux Tank From Airbus

US startup airline Breeze Airways recently took delivery of its first examples of the Airbus A220. This modern narrowbody is an exciting aircraft in itself, but Breeze may be set to take it to the next level. Indeed, founder and CEO David Neeleman is considering the possibility of fitting the aircraft with an auxiliary fuel tank to increase the jet’s range to 4,000 miles.

50 Years Ago D.B. Cooper Hijacked And Escaped A Boeing 727

This week marked 50 years since one of the most famous and mysterious hijackings in aviation history. The unbelievable story of D.B. Cooper saw the hijacker take money from Northwest Orient Airlines before jumping out of the rear door of a Boeing 727.

Lufthansa Will Bring The Airbus A340-600 Back To Frankfurt

The events of the last two years have seen doubt cast over the future of four-engine aircraft. However, despite these concerns, Lufthansa is planning to bring the Airbus A340-600 back into service. The German flag carrier is set to reintroduce the stretched quadjet on select routes from its Frankfurt hub, with Munich yet to have such flights scheduled.

Alaska Airlines Explains Its Strategy In Boise

As part of Simple Flying’s recent Future Flying Forum, we had the chance to speak to Brett Catlin, Alaska Airlines’ Vice President of Network and Alliances. He took the time to explain the carrier’s network strategy regarding its services from Boise, an airport that Alaska Airlines considers to be a clean slate. Lufthansa Will Let You Book A Flight Without Knowing The Destination

Earlier this week, Simple Flying took a look at the ‘Lufthansa Surprise’ mystery flights scheme, whereby the German flag carrier picks your destination for you. Passengers pay between €69 and €99 to pick a category indicating the sort of destination they’d like to go to, with Lufthansa doing the rest. You can read more about this interesting program here.
