Indigo Partners Reveals Huge Order For 255 Airbus A321 Aircraft
Among the most significant orders placed at the Dubai Air Show this week involved Indigo Partners. This group owns Frontier, JetSMART, Volaris, and Wizz Air, and it has ordered 255 Airbus A321neo and A321XLR aircraft to be split among these carriers.
In Pictures: Onboard Honeywell’s Boeing 757 Technology Demonstrator
As well as being the perfect place to reveal major orders, companies also use the Dubai Air Show to showcase their work. One example was Honeywell allowing access to its Boeing 757 technology demonstrator, with Simple Flying even getting to fly onboard!
Qantas 787 Crew Unable To Raise Landing Gear After Takeoff
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has published an investigation into an incident involving a Qantas Boeing 787 earlier this year. The aircraft was unable to raise its landing gear after takeoff, with the report finding that this was due to the failure to remove two downlock pins before departure. Emirates President Reveals Launch Date For Premium Economy Sales
Emirates’ new premium economy cabin onboard its Airbus A380s is one of the most highly anticipated cabin products in recent years. This week, Simple Flying was able to ask CEO Sir Tim Clark about a timeline for its launch, and found that Emirates plans to put the cabin on sale next June. Flybe 2.0 Set To Operate Out Of Birmingham
Since Flybe collapsed in March 2020, there has been something of a gap in the UK regional and short-haul air market. However, a second iteration of the carrier now looks ready to commence operations next year, with Birmingham chosen as its new headquarters.
Say Hello To Lynx Air: Canada’s Newest Ultra-Low-Cost Airline
Canada’s low-cost scene has seen something of a boom in recent years, and 2022 will see another carrier throw its hat into the ring. Known as Lynx Air, this new airline will be based in Calgary, and initially plans to fly three Boeing 737 MAXs. You can find out more here.
