James Bond Flights: Which Routes Have Flight Number 007?

As the latest James Bond movie hits screens worldwide, we explore what routes use the 007 flight number this week. With no need for this information to be secret, this look comes shortly before the franchise’s 60th anniversary.

007 routes this week

Some 35 routes have the 007 – and often just seven – flight number this week. That’s based on examining schedules information provided to data experts Cirium. Between them, they have 160 outbound flights or about 23 a day. As always, changes may occur.

With 007 flights in many world areas, the globe is trodden to save the day. There are large numbers of long-haul routes, as shown in the table. These include JetBlue’s new New York JFK to London Heathrow, which started on August 11th, together with Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Washington and Virgin Atlantic between Heathrow and Los Angeles.

From Fiji to the A380

The short 66 nautical mile hop from Nadi to Suva in Fiji stands out for exoticism; I wonder how many martinis could be consumed on that often 20-minute flight? Or passengers might find themselves aboard a B737-800 wet-leased from TUI fly to Eurowings and used on EW7 from Berlin to Cologne.

Only one 007 route uses the A380: Emirates from Dubai to Heathrow. EK7 leaves Dubai daily at 02:30 and arrives in the UK at 07:05 local time. It then departs for the UAE at 09:05 as EK8. It is one of five daily Emirates flights on the airport-pair, with all by the double-decker.

Los Angeles to Taipei is the longest 007 flight

At 5,908nm, Los Angeles to Taipei is the longest Bond route, with the top ten longest routes detailed below. With a block time to Taiwan of almost 14 hours, there is plenty of time for Bond to play with his gadgets. However, as CI7 leaves California at 00:05 and arrives in Taipei at 05:00 local time a day later, perhaps Bond will be asleep in business class – there being no first class aboard China Airlines’ B777-300ERs.

The longest 007 routes this week are:

  1. Los Angeles to Taipei
  2. Boston to Narita
  3. Tel Aviv to JFK
  4. Heathrow to Los Angeles
  5. Istanbul to Washington
  6. San Francisco to Narita
  7. Dallas to OGG
  8. JFK to Paris CDG
  9. JFK to Heathrow
  10. Dubai to Heathrow

While Lerwick to Foula is the shortest route

At the other extreme is Directflight’s intra-Shetland service from Lerwick to Foula, one of the UK’s remotest permanently inhabited islands. At just 25nm, DCT7 is scheduled to leave Lerwick, the main town in Shetland, at 09:00 and arrive 10 minutes later. It uses nine-seat Islanders.

Coming a close second is the Isles of Scilly Skybus’ Land’s End to St Mary’s service. At just 27nm, flight IOS7 is scheduled to leave Land’s End, the most westerly point in mainland England, at 08:15 and arrive on the Isles of Scilly at 08:35. It uses 19-seat Twin Otters and is one of up to 12 daily flights this week.
