Eurowings is gearing up to launch flights out of its new Prague base later this week. Today, the German low-cost airline revealed its website in the Czech language.
Eurowings gets ready to launch its Prague base
This week, on Sunday 31st October, Eurowings will inaugurate its first flights out of its new base in Prague Airport. For this German low-cost airline, Prague will join just a handful of operational bases that are not located in a German-speaking country.
Marking the occasion and gearing up for the launch, Eurowings revealed its Czech website that is now live at http://eurowings.com/cz.
Passengers from the Czech Republic intending to fly out of Prague can now use the website to book tickets, receive all flight information, and access Eurowings’ signature low-fare calendar, all in the Czech language.
To start with, the airline will base two aircraft in Prague. Both will start operations immediately on Sunday, as visible by the overlapping flight times. A third aircraft will come in time for the 2022 summer season when Eurowings will also inaugurate further new routes out of Prague.

The first flights take off this Sunday
Since first announcing a new base in Prague, Eurowings has re-jigged some of its timetables, clearly adjusting the route network and flight frequencies based on advance bookings. For example, the Prague – Zagreb – Prague route was supposed to launch next week, but it was later postponed to 16th December.
Eurowings’ booking engine data suggests the following timetable for the first few days of operations, with prices for one-way tickets departing Prague currently being as follows:
Prague (PRG) to Bristol (BRS) is the first flight to depart, at 06:00 on Sunday. The most basic fare is selling for $38 at the moment.
Then, the following flights will also depart Prague on Eurowings’ first day of operations:
- PRG to Barcelona (BCN), selling for $63
- PRG to Fuerteventura (FUE), selling for $167
- PRG to Copenhagen (CPH), selling for $115
- PRG to Milan Malpensa (MXP), selling for $35
On Monday, day two of its Prague operations, Eurowings will fly to:
- Birmingham (BHX)
- Bristol (BRS)
- Barcelona (BCN)
- Milan (MXP)
- Copenhagen (CPH)
No flights are on sale for Tuesday, the third day of operations, now that the Zagreb rotation has been postponed.
Eurowings faces a lot of competition in Prague
Eurowings is not entered an easy market with its new base in Prague. The airport is a stronghold for Ryanair, which sells tickets from Prague to as many as 45 destinations. This number includes one-stop flights via Brussels Charleroi (CRL) and Milan Bergamo (BGY).
For each of its new routes launching in the first wave of expansion, Eurowings faces at least one competitor. They are as follows:
- Bristol: easyJet (flying as often as four times weekly in December)
- Barcelona: Vueling (codeshared by Iberia) and Ryanair
- Fuerteventura: Smartwings/CSA
- Copenhagen: Ryanair, Norwegian, and Smartwings/CSA
- Milan: easyJet and Ryanair (to Milan Bergamo)
- Birmingham: Jet2
It will be interesting to watch how Eurowings finds its feet in the market.
