A Free Ticket To Expo 2020 Dubai? Just Fly With Etihad

At the start of next month, the emirate of Dubai will welcome the world as it hosts Expo 2020. The global event lasts until the end of March 2022, and Etihad Airways is offering complimentary access for all of its customers. Let’s find out more about this offer.

“Expo 2020 brings many exciting opportunities for Etihad Airways, and we are proud to invite the world to enjoy this event and all that Abu Dhabi and the UAE has to offer,” –Terry Daly, Executive Director Guest Experience, Brand & Marketing, Etihad.

A free ticket to a global event

With Expo 2020 Dubai set to launch in less than a week, the airline of neighboring emirate Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways, is offering tickets for all guests who book a flight with the airline.

The global event will feature entertainment and cuisines from around the world and is, in essence, a celebration of human achievement and innovation- perhaps something travelers might enjoy experiencing during their time in the Middle East.

Etihad Airways says that it will be giving all of its guests traveling into or via Abu Dhabi a complimentary ticket to Expo 2020 Dubai, dubbed “the biggest cultural gathering in the world.”

The special promotion is part of the “Exponential Abu Dhabi” campaign, which was launched yesterday and will run until March 31st, 2022.

The theme of Expo 2020 is ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.’ The event will have three subthemes, which are: Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability. Operating for a full six months, the event will have an impressive 60 live shows every day, as well as over 200 distinctive dining destinations.

Get to Dubai’s Expo 2020 from Abu Dhabi

With Expo 2020 set to welcome the world to Dubai, neighboring UAE emirate Abu Dhabi is hoping to capitalize on this attention. In addition to visitors enjoying Dubai and the Expo, it is hoped that travelers will also take the time to “explore the incredible tourist attractions Abu Dhabi and the rest of the country has to offer.”

Indeed, the airline says that Expo 2020 is just a 45-minute drive from Abu Dhabi. Our search on Google Maps, however, has the trip time at just under an hour and closer to 90 minutes if traveling from central Abu Dhabi. Nonetheless, it’s not an incredibly long journey to get to “the main event” if flying with Etihad and coming from Abu Dhabi’s airport.

Etihad says that the city now welcomes fully vaccinated travelers without the need to quarantine, “making it exceptionally convenient and accessible.”

With hopes of having increased traffic to and through Abu Dhabi, Etihad and Exponential Abu Dhabi hope to expose travelers to the emirate’s diversity, including stunning desert landscapes, sandy beaches, and warm, clear waters.

For adventure-seekers, Abu Dhabi also offers opportunities for kayaking in natural mangroves, sandboarding in the desert, as well as jet-skiing, kite-surfing, go-karting, and more.

An offer worth $28?

While the word ‘complimentary’ tends to grab attention, it’s not exactly an earth-shattering offer. According to Expo 2020 Dubai’s website, 1-day tickets are selling for $27.43, not exactly something to turn your itinerary upside down for.

However, when you consider the fact that Etihad offers a complimentary shuttle bus/coach service to and from central Dubai for its passengers, the deal gets a little more convenient.

At the end of the day, it seems like an excellent opportunity for those who are already flying with Etihad or want to explore this part of the Middle East. The carrier says it’s currently operating to 65 passenger destinations, which should hopefully bring a good portion of the world in, to experience Expo 2020 in Dubai as well as Abu Dhabi.
