New Orleans To Antarctica: Four Seasons Latest A321LR Private Jet Itinerary

Luxury hotel chain Four Seasons has revealed two new itineraries for its A321LR private jet experience. Citing a ‘record-breaking sellout’ of its previously planned trips, the company is taking its first foray into the world’s seventh continent, with a trip that starts in New Orleans and takes in Antarctica.

A trip of a lifetime

We love to keep an eye on what the Four Seasons ‘private’ A321LR is up to, and its latest itinerary is one that is likely to have cash-rich globetrotters reaching for their credit cards. The lavishly appointed Airbus narrowbody is set to conduct a tour that takes passengers from the bustling city of New Orleans to one of the last wildernesses of the world in Antarctica.

Titled ‘Unchartered Discovery,’ this latest addition to the Four Seasons itinerary is a 21-day long extravaganza that begins in the ‘Big Easy’ of New Orleans. Here, passengers will relax in the Four Seasons new hotel on the banks of the Mississippi River. From here, they jet down south to the tropical paradise of Costa Rica.

From Costa Rica, passengers will travel to the Peruvian Highlands and the Sacred Valley of the Incas. For a portion of the journey, they’ll be aboard a privately chartered train which will take them all the way to Machu Picchu.

Next, it’s Buenos Aires in Argentina, with a day trip to Iguazú Falls, named for the place where the Iguazú River plunges over a lava cliff into 275 interlinking waterfalls. Finally, the A321LR will head south once more, landing in the world’s most southernmost continent for the first time.

The Airbus will be landing on King George Island, at the Teniente R Marsh Airport, the only airport in Antarctica to have an IATA code (TNM). There’s no regular scheduled service from the airport, but it is used for various fly/cruise expeditions into Antarctica. As such, the Four Seasons passengers will then go on to board a polar ship for their expedition into the depths of the most unexplored continent on Earth.

On the way back, the trip will stop in Colombia’s capital of Bogota, and then will give passengers the ultimate relaxing end to the journey at The Ocean Club, a Caribbean hideaway in the Bahamas.

Feeling tempted? Well, there’s no rush to get your bags packed because the journey is set to take place from November 28th, 2022, running through to December 18th, 2022. You might need some time to save up for the trip also, as it comes in at an eyewatering $190,000 per person (for groups of two), with a solo traveler supplement of $19,000.

Record-breaking sellout

Despite the astonishing price tag for trips like these, Four Seasons says that it has released its Antarctica trip in response to a ‘record-breaking sellout’ of all its existing 2022 itineraries. As well as the Unchartered Discovery, the company is also launching a new ‘World of Adventures 2022’ trip, which takes in Kyoto, Bali, Seychelles, Rwanda, Marrakech, Bogota and Galapagos.

Christian Clerc, President, Global Operations for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, noted that,

“Late last year, we announced three awe-inspiring 2022 itineraries aboard the new Four Seasons Private Jet. The response was overwhelming, with record sellouts and extensive waitlists, signaling considerable pent-up demand for travel. Now, more than ever, guests are planning bucket-list trips to far corners of the world to make up for lost time.

“Equally as important as the incredible destinations and experiences, we know that travelers are looking for a seamless service experience where their health and safety is a priority. The Four Seasons Private Jet offers the best of both worlds. From takeoff to landing and at every destination in between, we adhere to the highest standards of health and safety, allowing guests to embrace the wonders of travel in a truly unique way with the utmost comfort and peace of mind.”

The Four Seasons private jet is an all-business A321LR, laid out in a 2-2 arrangement with fully lie-flat seats for all. There are some nice touches, including the crisp white Italian leather finishes and the ottoman at the foot of each bed, ideal for socializing and making these some of the longest beds in the sky.

While trips like this may be out of reach for most of us, it’s interesting to note how demand has picked up in the wake of the COVID crisis. It’s a similar story from the companies chartering private jet trips. It seems the highest of high-end travelers may be opting to stop flying commercially for good.
