The Airbus A350-1000 is the largest member of Airbus’ newest clean-sheet aircraft design. Today, 56 of the aircraft have been delivered to airlines worldwide. This begs the question, how much is an Airbus A350-1000 worth in 2021? Simple Flying decided to find out.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been looking at the value of several aircraft families. The focus so far had been on quad jets, with the Airbus A340, Airbus A380, Boeing 747-400, and Boeing 747-8 all falling under our magnifying glass. Using data provided by ch-aviation.com and generated by Collateral Verifications LLC, we decided it was time to look at the Airbus A350-1000.
How much is a new aircraft worth?
Airbus hasn’t published list prices for several years now. The last time list prices were released, the European aviation giant listed the average brand new A350-1000 as worth $366.5 million. Of course, these prices are never paid by airlines, with the actual price always a closely guarded secret.
According to data from ch-aviaition.com, Airbus delivered the newest Airbus A350-1000 to Air Caraibes on Monday. The aircraft, F-HTOO, was flown to Bordeaux for storage alongside Etihad’s future A350s. The current market value of the aircraft is listed as $161.08 million. This is a drop of 56% from the 2018 list price.
What about older aircraft?
Surprisingly, the oldest active Airbus A350-1000 isn’t the one with the lowest market value. G-VDOT was delivered to Virgin Atlantic in September. Despite this, the aircraft completed its first flight in January 2017, giving the aircraft an age of 4.42. The reason for the delayed delivery is that the aircraft was initially a testbed for Airbus.
As a testbed, the aircraft received much less use than is typical for a commercial aircraft. As of the end of the year, the aircraft had amassed just 579 flight hours across 260 cycles. The aircraft’s current market value is listed as $136.86 million.
And aircraft with more mileage?
By comparison, the oldest A350 delivered directly to a customer is Qatar Airways’ A7-ANA. This aircraft is 2.51 years old, having been delivered in February 2018. Qatar is currently not taking A350 deliveries due to a spat with the manufacturer.
While Virgin’s oldest A350 has relatively low mileage, the same can’t be said for this aircraft. At the end of the year, the aircraft had amassed 14,603 flight hours across 1,919 flight cycles. Taking into account the increased usage of the aircraft, its value is correspondingly lower. According to ch-aviation.com’s data, the plane’s current market value is $119.37 million.

A7-ANA isn’t alone at the bottom of the mileage table. According to the data provided, 14 of the aircraft are valued at $119.37. The next lowest value is for British Airways’ first A350, G-XWBA. With an age of 1.95 years, the aircraft is valued at $127.65 million.
