Announcing the new Greek island destinations on its website, flyduabi confirmed the routes would be seasonal for summer 2021. Services start from June 18th and will continue until September 29th.

Both flights depart from Dubai International Terminal 3 and operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays directly to Mykonos. The return flight from Mykonos will be via Santorini, meaning flights to Santorini will have a short stop at Mykonos first. Tickets start from AED 2,500 (US$680) for a return flight to either destination. Business class tickets start from AED 8,000 (US$2,178).

Travel to Greece

The flights will be part of a codesharing agreement with Emirates to open up the new Greek destinations to more travelers. A travel corridor between Greece and the UAE opened earlier this month. From May 18th, vaccinated passengers traveling with a health passport do not have to quarantine in Greece upon arrival. The agreement is reciprocal for people traveling from Greece to the UAE.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, said,

“We are excited to grow our network and give passengers more options to travel this summer.  Demand for travel has started to increase as more countries gradually lift restrictions on international travel. The UAE has recently added Bahrain, Greece, and Serbia to the safe travel list, which has encouraged more people to start planning their summer holidays.”

Targeting summer holiday markets

The two new summer routes bring flyDubai roster of seasonal destinations to six. These are Bodrum and Trabzon in Turkey, Matumi in Georgia, and Tivat in Montenegro. The airline is also looking to resume operations to Naples in Italy and Salzburg in Austria starting in July.

The seasonal routes are part of a host of new destinations announced earlier this month, including destinations in Russia and Iran. The airline is known for operating flights to both usual and unusual destinations. All the while connecting through its Dubai hub with Emirates flights making it very popular with tourists.

flydubai operates a range of smaller connecting routes, which help serve Emirates’ network, which, so far, has proved to be a recipe for success. The airline has a growing fleet of Boeing aircraft. It has lots of brand new 737 MAX on order, and the rest of its fleet is made up of next-generation 737-800 aircraft, all of which recently got a WiFi upgrade.

The result is a growing, efficient and modern fleet with business-class options ready for an expanding network. It’s likely there will be even more new flyduabi destinations come winter.
